She watched as the beads of sweat formed at the nape of his neck and ran slowly down his back like water over marble. A hint of wetness at his waistline was keeping her attention when he said something….she looked up at she could see those dimples start to form as he grinned at her over his shoulder. “Gia….” “Yeah..” “You were going to say something….” She realized she was still staring at the sweat running down his body, through his abs in particular…he sat the weights down and put a t-shirt on. Thank god, she thought, it was like staring at the sun. “Oh yeah….where were you last night…I made my special spicy popcorn and you never showed…” “We brought Emily home last night…” “Oh…what about Zander?” “No…by the time that Jason, Lucky and I got there, Emily was by herself at the border. He got away.” “I’m clear then … the cops have no chance of catching him...” “Not if Emily has anything to do with it. You’d think the guy had joined a boy band or something the way she talked about him. She insisted he didn’t hurt her….but yeah, he got away.” “So I’m out of my quarantine on Spook Island, huh…” “You don’t sound too thrilled about that…” “I was kinda looking forward to more Scooby-Doo adventures prowling around the secret tunnels…” “I don’t know what that means, but I thought I told you to stay out of the tunnels. You could get lost in there, then where would you be?” “Oh you mean my handsome prince wouldn’t come to rescue me?” “I’ve never pictured you as a damsel in distress. Don’t bat your eyelashes at me like that. I mean it, stay out of the tunnels.” “Well it shouldn’t be a problem now, right? Zander’s gone, I can come out of seclusion in the tower? Cross the moat?” “No, I think you should stay here for a while…wait until we’re sure Zander’s gone for good.” “Why should I? You think he’s so stupid that he’d come back? For what? A lethal injection?” “He’s not facing the lethal injection if you’re not there to place him at the scene, remember. Lucky and I told your brother that we stashed the body, so finding him in Zander’s truck was useless. You’re still the only thing tying him to the murder.” “Well what about kidnapping Emily…he’s still up for that, isn’t he?” “Gia, listen to me….he avoided the cops for weeks with Emily. Without her, he can be even more low key.” “So what do you suggest I do, sit around here in this dungeon?” “You don’t like being here? I thought you liked it…I know it’s hard being cooped up, but..” “No Nikolas, I do, I mean I love being here with y…. with all this great stuff, and the horses…but I am still stuck.” “I know and I’m sorry….” “So what are we going to do?” “Well, I guess if we’re careful, we could go into town occasionally. But you’d have to wear a disguise….Can you do that?” “What do you mean, can I do that?…of course I can do that..” “I mean, you’re pretty distinctive looking, Gia. You stand out in a crowd…” “Well, thank you …I think. Wait, are you saying I’m some sort of freak..?” “No, you’re just….just get a disguise together. I’ve got to go to L&B and get some work done after going after Emily yesterday. We can go to a movie, and then maybe pick up dinner at the drive through.” “The prince eating the drive through, I don’t think so…..nope, it’s the PC Grille, then we’ll go…” “The Grille…everyone will see you…” “So? Hide in plain sight and all that…..besides you didn’t let me finish…after we go eat we’re going dancing…” “No, Gia , no. No dancing…No.” “Why not? Lil’ rich boy forgot to buy himself some rhythm..?” she said, as she sauntered up to him swaying her hips to some imaginary music…. “I can waltz and most of the classical dances and well….Emily tried to teach me some steps once…but that didn’t work out too well.” “Just leave it to me….It’ll be fine….you can’t help but be good when you’re dancing with me…” “Oh I can’t?” “Nope….just not possible…I’m that good.” “Okay, just be ready by 8, and wear a disguise….”
