Chapter One

Gia is again working as an au pair and is watching the two O’Lear kids at the park. Gia’s back is towards Nikolas as he walks near the park. He’s been jogging for the most part of the early morning, with the rest of the late morning, early afternoon spent on deep thoughts concerning his uncle Stefan.

Nikolas stops just short of Gia and he watches her movements. He watches her as she helps one of the boys onto a swing and slowly starts to push him.

A contradiction. That’s exactly what she is. Nikolas sits down on a bench close enough to the sand park, but not close enough to be seen. Interestingly enough, being in close proximity to Gia has had an effect on him. Just watching… just watching is enough sometimes.

Gia is a mystery to him, if not a pain at times. The conditions and reasons Gia came to Port Charles are still unknown to all, with Emily and Liz not caring if those same circumstances lead her right out of Port Charles for good. But… there is that unpredictability that draws him. She challenges him like no other, and offers no comparison to past or present illusions.

A contradiction. That’s exactly what she is. Just watching… just watching is enough… for now.

Chapter Two

(Scene left off at the park. Nikolas is at the bench watching Gia as she pushes one of the O’Lear or O’Leary kids on the swings. It is now Friday, Gia’s day off. Also, my Nikolas is Tyler Christopher so he’s more refined and dark. Overall, just delicious!)

Gia has left the O’Lears on her way out for a night of soul repletion. A time where being alone is all the medication and soothing needed to redefine who you are.

The sun is gone leaving its footprints in the sky. The meek becoming lords of sound, lords of darkness… all its mysteries, the long tales and stories wrapped around the unknown world of nothingness.

Gia finds herself drawn to the docks. Alone…she thinks. Out of her eyesight Nikolas Cassadine is also in search of his true self, his place in life. He’s all too familiar with that dark place he carries inside of him.

As if sensing an intruder in his marked world of solitude, Nikolas turns… Gia. Because she has yet to see him, he debates whether or not to approach her. She has made it more than clear that she wants no connection with him or his friends. He’s already made his decision; she’ll just have to accept it.

“What are you doing here?”

“Why do you think I’m here?”

“I don’t know, not that I really care either. It may be just something you people like to do in Port Charles… you know hide, lie, and get caught. That sort of thing.”

“Really.”

“You’re not even that good.”

“I surprised you…”

She looks away not strong enough against his gaze.

“You make me smile”, Nikolas almost whispers.

“What… what did you say?”

“You make me smile.”

“Look I don’t have time for this –“

Nikolas stops Gia from leaving the docks by stepping in front of her path. One can’t always find a way of escape, especially when a heart is held captive.

Nikolas puts a firm hand on her arm.

“All I’m saying is that you make me smile… If you want I can take it back.”

Gia finds the nerve to look Nikolas in the eyes.

“Why are you here… I thought we agreed.”

Nikolas is quiet for a moment. He’s thinking about a response, but he doesn’t release her arm, soon it becomes her hand.

“Gia…”

“Nikolas, please, I can’t do this now – not like this.”

The Prince releases the Lady’s hand, but with a warning and a statement to her unspoken plea. When do you let go? Never.

Chapter 3

It has been about a week since Nikolas and Gia Last met. Gia has been otherwise busy working for the O’Lears. The rest of the time she spent avoiding Nikolas; someone who could make her fall. It is strange this emotion, on the border if not verge of love, yet not quite that perfect embodiment of life. Nikolas has decided to take matters into his own hands and has showed up at the O’Lear’s home posing as Gia’s close friend. Mrs. Unbeknownst to Gia, Nikolas and Mrs. O’Lear have conspired to give Gia the night out.

“So what you’re kidnapping me now?” Gia asked.

“Only if you’ll promise to stay with me forever.”

“Why do you talk like that Nikolas?”

“Like what?”

“Like that! You… you make me feel stuff and think stuff--“

“About me?”

“Huh…,” Gia looks away, “Ahhh, look,” Gia points to Wyndemere as the boat reaches the launch, “You’re home.”

‘It can be ours’ Nikolas thinks. “Yes indeed I am.”

*******

Nikolas took Gia’s hand as they left the launch. Her usual sharp retorts had been replaced by confusing silence. Nikolas squeezed her hand and looked down at her.

"You feeling okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, fine," she nodded. "A little tired."

"I could take you inside and put you to bed," he suggested with a grin.

"Nikolas--" she spoke, attempting to free her hand from his.

He held on stubbornly, stopping and turning her to face him.

"What's wrong, love?" he asked.

"Don't call me that," she said softly. "I'm not your--"

"You will be," he said confidently.

Nikolas sighed and put her free hand on his arm, "Nikolas, you don't need to do this. I don't want you to do this."

"You're not supposed to want me to do this," he answered. "It's difficult to seduce someone who's willing to race you to the bedroom."

Gia giggled, despite her discomfort, and looked up at him for the first time since they'd left the boat launch.

"I'm serious," she said, regaining her composure. "I'm not going to let you do this."

"My beautiful Gia, you cannot stop me," he argued. "If you're convinced I'm only doing this because I think I have to, you're wrong."

"I don't believe you."

"I know you don't, but you will," he promised.

"No, I won't," she insisted. "I want things to go back the way they were, and if they don't, I'll refuse to see you, at all."

"Don't go there Gia," he warned her. "Don't turn this into a battle you can't win."

"I can’t believe this! You're so full of yourself! Look, poor, little, lonely Gia does not need you to try to make her feel special! We're friends, Nikolas, an! d that means a lot to me. Don't ruin it by trying to accomplish something neither of us wants."

"You don't know what I want," he said calmly. "Would you like me to tell you?"

"No," she answered.

He smirked at her firm refusal, "I want to see what you look like when you're lying in bed, with the moonlight shining through the window, quiet and dizzy from having me inside you for hours. I want to taste your lips on mine the first thing in the morning. I want to find out what your body feels like when it's wrapped up in mine in a hot, steamy shower."

Gia shivered and scrambled desperately to pull her mind away from his soft words.

*Your skin like dawn
Mine like musk
One paints the beginning
Of a certain end.
The other
The end of a sure beginning*
